One-4Reef guide
ONE-4Reef is a super-concentrated pure organic form of our proportional consumption reef-keeping system in one canister. It contains all necessary trace elements in natural seawater, organic micro-nutrients, and amino acids in one product! Ready to use to maintain a thriving and colorful reef aquarium. Highly concentrated (1L contains 50.160 mg/l calcium and 7.000 °dKH/l). Specially designed to be used with our Reef Keeping System (RKS) but can also be used alone or in aquariums with calcium reactors.
Important! ONE-4Reef may significantly reduce nutrients due to the bacterial activity produced by organic dosing, leading to pale coloration and stagnation of the reef aquarium. Therefore, we recommend monitoring NO3 and PO4 and dose Modern Reef N+ and P+ if needed, especially in low nutrient reef aquariums. ONE-4Reef should also be considered a form of carbon dosing too! So keep this in mind and reduce or stop your carbon dosing (as Modern Reef C+) when using ONE-4Reef.

You can use ONE-4Reef in 3 ways to maintain a reef aquarium:
- Alone as a base reef keeping system
- With the Modern Reef RKS (Reef Keeping System) as "saving-mode"
- In reef aquariums with calcium reactors
ONE-4REEF ALONE AS A REEF KEEPING METHOD
If you prefer organic dosing and a formate form of Balling to keep your reef aquarium, then you can use ONE-4Reef alone. Start by dosing 4 ml of ONE-4Reef per 100 liters. Then, increase by 2 ml per 100 liters each 2-4 days till you keep constant KH and calcium and find your maintenance dosage. Teste KH and calcium regularly and use Calcium as the dosage regulator. This is because the KH level provided by ONE-4Reef (as all types of organic Balling) may take up to 2 days to begin to show in a KH test kit. Don't exceed 20 ml per 100 liters per day, and don't forget to apply Modern Reef Complete Reef Food and Polypop to complete the proportional consumption system.
If your reef aquarium is big and you don't want to refill constantly, you can divide the dosage and connect as many canisters and dosing pumps as you want. For example, if you dose 400 ml a day of ONE-4Reef, you can connect 4 canisters to 4 dosing pumps and dose 100 ml each a day. It will last long until you change the canisters or refill them. Just keep in mind to multiply the total amount dosed when you apply Modern Reef Complete Reef Food and Polypop.

ONE-4Reef With Modern Reef RKS
The ONE-4Reef can be used with Modern Reef - RKS - (Reef Keeping System) as a "Saving-mode" application and to benefit more from the organic and inorganic Balling dosing like:
- Maximum color and growth of all corals, especially SPS
- Extreme polyp extension on all corals especially Acropora
- Less accumulation of by-products like sodium or chloride
- Cleaner rocks and sand
- Clearer water
- Reduces excess nutrients like NO3 and PO4
- Saving with the consumption of RKS dosage (up to 20% in cost vs cost)
- More resistant reef aquarium environment against cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates
Our research found that the best results were achieved using this method and helped significantly reduce the Modern Reef - RKS (Reef Keeping System) consumption.
It's important always to test KH and Calcium when you start using the ONE-4Reef for the first 2 weeks. Also, keep in mind that the KH level provided by ONE-4Reef may take 2 days to begin to show with the KH test kits.
You can choose to use it with the Modern Reef - RKS in 2 ways:
- RKS at 75% and ONE-4Reef at 25%
- RKS at 50% and ONE-4Reef at 50%

RKS at 75% and ONE-4Reef at 25%: To use the ONE-4Reef this way, reduce the daily dosage of the RKS by 25% and dose daily the same amount reduced in ml of ONE-4Reef. Then keep ONE-4Reef without changing the dosage, and keep using the RKS as you normally do. You can increase the ONE-4Reef by more than 25% if you want later and decrease the RKS dosage simultaneously and slowly to use more from the ONE-4Reef and less from the RKS. You can go up slowly to max equal daily dosage as the RKS, which will make it 5 equal parts dosing system as explained below. Just keep in mind not to exceed the daily dosage of the RKS with the ONE-4Reef. Please allow a 5-10 minute gap between each dose of each pump.
RKS at 50% and ONE-4Reef at 50%: It converts the RKS and the ONE-4Reef into a 5 equal parts dosing system. To use this way the ONE-4Reef, reduce the daily dosage of the RKS by 25% and dose daily the same amount reduced in ml of ONE-4Reef, then wait 4 days, then dose all 5 equal parts till you keep constant KH and calcium between 7.2-8.5 dKH and 390-440 mg/l calcium. If you are starting new with Modern Reef, start by dosing 4 ml per 100 liters from each of the 5 canisters (4 canisters RKS and 1 ONE-4Reef) test daily and adjust the daily dosage by 2ml per 100 liters till you keep constant KH and calcium between 7.2-8.5 dKH and 390-440 mg/l calcium. Please allow a 5-10 minute gap between each dose of each pump.
One downside to using ONE-4Reef with RKS together is the need for a 5th dosing pump. We recommend using a 5th dosing pump and calibrating it as you do for the RKS. If this is not an option, you can still dose Base KH1 and Base KH2 in one container/canister and multiply the dosage by 2. So, for example, if you are dosing 50ml of each canister, you can dose 100 ml of Base KH1 and Base KH2 (combined in one container/canister) and 50ml Base Cal and 50ml Base Mag. Then you will have an extra dosing pump free for the ONE-4Reef.

ONE-4Reef with Calcium Reactor
ONE-4Reef can be used in reef aquariums with calcium reactors. It is the same as using ONE-4Reef alone as a base reef keeping system, but in this case, you need to reduce the calcium reactor capacity by 50%. Once you reduce the calcium reactor capacity to 50%, start by daily dosing 2 ml per 100 liters. Then adjust the dosage by 1 ml daily per 100 liters until you keep constant KH and calcium between 7.2-8.5 dKH and 390-440 mg/l calcium. Here you have some of the benefits of using ONE-4Reef in a reef aquarium system with a calcium reactor:
